Default Need struts

Ok, the 91 Mustang I got is about to beat me to death. When I hit a bump the front end sounds like its slamming down on something. I don't know if the struts are too stiff or if their bottoming out.

I plan to get new struts and need some recommendations. I don't want to pay a ton of money but I don't want the cheap Monroe matics or Gabriels either.

I am looking for a good bang for the buck. Something stiff enough to keep the tires on the road while not allowing too rough of a ride. We do have some rather rough streets around here and a lot of hills so a minimal amount of comfort is an issue.

Im shopping around for struts right now too. If your not looking to spend a ton, the Tokico HP shocks are pretty decent. They run about 250 for the front and rear.

How should the struts react when I bounce on them??

When I push on the back of the car it bounces fairly smoothly, always returning to the top of the stroke right away within 1 bounce. The rear shocks also look like someone may have replaced them with Sensa Trac shocks.

The front is nearly impossible to bounce. I put all my weight, 190lb into forcing the car down and it goes down only about 1/2 inch and you can see the car SLOWLY rising back up.

Shouldn't they bounce back up right away? I can push it down, step back and watch the space between the fender well and tire very very slowly get further away from each other.

I didn't think you should have that much time to see the strut return.

Am I looking at this wrong?
