Angry mouse hole

My 90 Hatchback has a oval hole in the bottom of the tire well. It's roughly 1" W X 3.5" L. ??????
Was this sealed with a rubber plug from the factory? It appears there was a tar paper like sheet covering the hole that Mr. Mouse found and chewed his way in and did a job above the headliner and all the felt insulation behind the the vinyl trim panels.
Anyone know where I can get the correct size rubber plug ( or metal ) to keep the rodents out. the one responsible is dead now but he has a lot of cousins in town. thanks

yeah, you could always fab a small piece of sheet metal and screw it down then seal it with silicon or rtv... or if you dont wanna risk puncturing the fuel tank just epoxy it on or jb weld it

Talking

I figured that it was probably from the factory like that. I was google searching and a lot of Chevy cars have metal oval plugs.I'll probably use one of those and seal it with RTV.Thanks.
