Sorry adder, i have pretty good hook ups at a machine shop, so getting the 347 built wont be the problem. Its everything after the short block that's going to cost me. So if i did build a 351 id stroke it for that reason. But for right now id be very happy with the 347.
Yea kweb i agree about the computer. In the long run i would rather run a quater horse / tweeker then a 'calibrated' maff.

I actually would go the other way on this. I helped a friend from scratch on tearing his little 302 out and putting a 351 in. He did a lot of homework before hand. This is what I would push on it, because if he hadn't, it would of actually been hell!! I just like the possibilties of going as big as you want and the added side to it is you would be adding a stronger foundation rather then always worrying about the strength of the stock 302 block. I know you are probably saying to yourself right now, "Its not like I am looking for 800hp". But as we all know, once you start building a car, every year it gets slower and slower to you because you get used to it. Thats when Nitrous kits get bought and forced induction. I just like the 351 blocks, of course the older ones preferably, for that added strength. Just my two cents on it. It may be a hassle to do it, but I think if you way all the options you would take a long hard look at it!!

if your short on cash, honestly, id just pull the stock motor, give it a stock rebuild and throw it back in. you say your broke right now being in college, save your money, cuz youll need it later down the line if your like me and having trouble finding a job that pays when student loans come around to bite you in the butt...
plus you go building up your engine, your gonna need supporting mods and risk stuff breaking.
just my .02 cents

If you use that 351W engine tha car will end up with about 75# more wieght on the front end.
FOX Mustangs had about 56-58% of the weight on the front ends from the factory so I think you are making something bad worse.
Stay with a 8.2 block.
No hood clearance problems either......
No hard to find headers either.........
