88 5.0 5 speed

So I know this has been beaten to death but I would like to here it from some senior members on here...

What is the best trans fluid for our cars and how much... Any every put some Lucas ATF additive or something like that

5.6 pints of Mercon will do nicely.

Yup that's what did it for my T5. Also I picked up a screw on pump with hose from O'Reilly's for $9 that made filling it up a breeze while laying under the car.

Interior is in pieces can I just pour it were my shifter goes???

you can add it threw the shifter not the most common or best way to do it but it can be done

just because you have to do all the work to pull the shifter off and put it back on.


if the shifter is already off. then put both the fill and drain plug in the trans, driveshaft in place obviously. put in 3qts, then with the car level, take out the fill plug. a little should come out. once its slowed to a drip, put the fill plug back in.



ATF/Mercon 3 is fine, but syncromesh is the best synthetic i've heard, but not cheap at all. like $15 a qt
