manual rack

Default manual rack

did any mustangs come with manual rack that would swap in to a fox my power steering pump broke when pullin the motor and have been wanting to get rid of the power steering

Just pulled my powersteering. I pulled the lines off the rack,drained some of the fluid,and looped the two lines together....Alot of people will frown upon this,but I have talked to guys that are going on 5-6 years like this.If your car is a daily driver then I pry wouldnt recommend it. Mine is far from a daily,so i chose to do it this way. I drove it about a month ago after the conversion,and it drove just like any other manual rack car I have driven.

yes lots of fox body mustangs came with manual racks but it was like back in 79 - 85 when you seen it the most. Fairmonts also works. But they can be tough to find make sure you get the shaft with the rag joint also.

did the same things holyshift and ran for about 2 years on that.

worked fine and saved a little bit of weight too.

Autozone 6804 is what I believe I used last time I did a swap. Go Flaming River if you can swing it. They are very nice.

Doesnt really feel much different than PS if you are moving. I think the best setup is to switch to a standard rotation WP and use a lighter, more compact alternator bracket.
