Default T5 fluid refill hole?

Where is the refill spot on the T5 Tranny? I just replaced my throwout bearing and lost about 2-3 quarts of fluid and need to refill it. What is the best or most accurate way to do it?

I was told it was on the side of the tranny, but not which side. Both sides appear to have 2 plugs screwed into the side, one higher than the other. And they screw in/out with an allan wrench.

If this is the wrong spot please let me know.

Thanks for the info!

fill plug is in the side, and it should be a 3/8" square. Easiest place to fill from is the shifter though!

The top plug is the fill hole, you can remove it with the square shank on a 3/8" ratchet end.

I remove the plug then route a 3/8" hose with a small funnel on one end down the passenger side to the fill hole and push the hose inside and fill. But that's just me .

If you fill it from the plug, I assume you fill it until it runs out.

If I use the shifter to fill it, how do I know when its full? Will fluid start to fill the shifter area and will a little permatex work to seal the shifter?

Yes fill until it just starts to run out.
If you're going to remove the plug to make sure that it's at the right level (full )you might as well fill it through the plug hole has always been my thought process.

When I had my T-5, I had drilled a 1/4 NPT hole towards the front of the shifter base, and used that as a fill point, So I didnt have to keep taking the shifter base off.

I used this pump from O'Reilly Autoparts http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...0728&ppt=C0164

Cost about $9 and it screws to the top of the bottle, put the car on jack stands, then laid on my side pumped fluid in till it came out of the fill hole, put the plug in with no sealant then called it a day...too easy!!!
