Pro50sc is right, he is not an insurance salesman!! his knowledge goes a little deeper than that, suffice me to say..........................as for your critic of the tires sharing the same caracteristics on one ride vs another, is not true, fact why?? we'll use your example for ease, it depends on weight distribution across the load, and how the suspension is set up...ie camber, caster and toe, all can contribute to how tire wears and or grips based on contact surface of where the load rides on the tire, more negative camber like on alot of BMWS causes load distribution to be on the inner edge and wear the tires quick but they handle great in winding roads, I swap the same tire to a mustang, and I have done it before since I have access to used tires and all of a sudden I spin tires and don't grip as well..why?? was it the tire?? no!!! as Pro50sc states a vehicle suspension and set up can play a huge role.as well as if the car is a rear wheel drive vs front wheel vs all wheel like in your example, the mustang is a solid rear axle and knowing such vs a crv's independent front/rear suspension set up will cause different handling caracteristics with the same tires on both rides, your comparisson is and apple to an orange = not a good one, If I'm to pick a tire for a mustang and yes I 'm basing the choice off of it being a mustang!! treadwear needs to be low = under 400, why?? = softer compound and a tire with a traction rating that is decent, softer compound will grip better but wear quicker, yes there is a trade off.. I run sumitomos on my s/c 89 vert, hooked so-so until I added a s/c, now it blows the tires off bad = more power makes it worse ), on a BMW they hooked very well ...... I swaped on my NITTO NTO5R'S and bam in na/ and s/c forum night and day difference , so in conclusion the point is, swaping the same tire from one ride to another will not always yield the same results, unless it's a drag radial..lol many factors must be taken into consideration such as suspension set up, drivetrain components ..ie (type of clutch) ..... and rear wheel vs front vs all wheel (since the crv came in both options..lol) anyway, this is the point pro50sc is driving at even though he didn't elaborate

oh and your michilen quote....lol lets not go there... if I had the money I'd buy them everytime, I've balanced and mounted so many tires over the years, trust me a michilen, balances with less weight spins truer than most tires out there and the ride quality is great, but most of the time on D/D I'm willing to give those characteristics up for a hard cheap tiire that will wear well

OP, how much power are you putting down? I can't see you having poor traction in the rain on a street tire. I have KDWs on one of my cars and it hooks great in the rain, my 85 has nittos 555s and it also hooks fine.

Thanks Mike, you saved me a pointless post to someone that just doesn't get it. I thought about replying last night as you just did, but I expended enough energy trying to make someone understand a point they obviously can't.

I don't think you guys are understanding what im saying...considering I've made my point as clear as I can and yet it still isn't clicking, im going to let this go. I did not say all tires are created equal, and nor am I wrong just because you don't quite understand my statement. A tire is going to grip as much as it can no matter what car its on, you can't have a tire grip like crap on one car and grip like a dream on another car, then another tire do the exact opposite, physics do not allow this.

I also wasn't inferring michelin to be a bad tire, I was meaning it was the opposite but excuse me for being stuck using a cell phone.

what kind of traction problems are you having specifically? for example are you just spinning your tires when accelerating or are you having over/understeer problems?

I'm going to be the odd man out here, and say that I will never put Michelin tires on ANYTHING. In fact, I usually recommend AGAINST them. Their sidewalls are softer than my ET Streets, and there tread pattern is CRAP in wet weather (MXV4's).

IMHO, a tire is **** when you can turn it inside out. Don't believe me? wait until I go back to work next week. I'll take some pictures of the funny things you can do to Michelin tires.

.
nevermind, this is pointless, thread done, OP BUY A TIRE FOR YOUR NEEDS, LOOK AT THE TRACTION RATINGS and tread wear rating, higher the rating, the harder the tire the more it's like sliding a brick across ice, also when looking at consumer ratings for a tire, make sure you pay attention to the type of vehicle that the tires are on vs the pos/neg rating given. it does matter
