i wanna do a motor build i need help
my dad has built many of stangs back in the day. and this will be my first what parts do i need. i know i wanna do higher comp piston, mild cam,.. etc. what should i get and my budget is kinda endless my dad is helping me build it. i dont want 1,000hp and not looking to turbo it. later down the road maybe a supercharger but i have no clue what to order. i remember back when i was like 5yrs old he built his last 5.0 5 speed he threw a cam i believe it was called E303? i maybe completely wrong so any help much appreciated.
i don't know how much i know my 93 lays down 558hp and that's enough so probably 350-400hp for the 91. basically me and my dad want it reliable so if he wanted to go to Florida in it he wouldn't have to worry about a thing. he wants it to be his DD. and he doesn't wanna cheap out so the best of the best on price. and yes i wanna do it right the first time with the best of best parts. any help much appreciated.
me and my dad decided not to put and forced induction for now. back in the late 90's my dad had a beautiful black 86 mustang pushing 400+hp and it was his summer DD. so he knows its possible. were gonna tear the motor down and rebuild it not matter what so. what if we put flat top pistons so like 10-1 or 11-1 compression. a mild cam, cobra intake manifold, etc.. do they make programmer for these stangs? and are they any good if they do. what do you guy's think i need to make a reliable 350-400rwhp mustang?
Well I think, but not sure, what Adder was getting at is that your gas mileage will be better with a turbo than if you do internal engine mods like that.
As a daily driver, I'd think you'd care about gas mileage.

The only downside to a turbo is that they're more complicated and require more tuning. If all you're looking for is a 350-400 hp DD then I'd say go with a 347 stroker and a good top end kit. I would use a Trickflow set up. I'm pretty sure you can get the hp you want with that set-up even if you keep the compression at like 9.5:1. Then you can turbo or S/C the car in the future if you want more. It's a simple set-up and it'll be reliable. Just make sure to use all upgraded internals and you'll be set. If money is no issue then go with an aftermarket bare block. Or you can buy a crate engine if you don't wanna do the build yourself...
