I joined this site with the intent of purchasing a 2012 GT or Boss. Well since I have had time to think, I decided I want to spend the time and money building up a car with my kids. I use to own a 85 GT years ago so I decided I wanted to start there.
Found one on craigslist and it should be in my garage some sunday. Im in the desert now so I have to send my wife and best friend to double check everything but I didnt see anything wrong that would prevent me from taking it on as a project.

I know its an 85 so I have a few things that need to be addressed.

Upgrade to an 8.8
4 to 5 lug conversion for the front (Rear will be good with the Rear Upgrade)
Deciding on what crate motor I want
New Transmission (T5 or T56?)
LCA Replacement
Coilovers and other suspension components

I am an addict so the list can go on forever.

I take vacation in April and go home for good in July(most likely) so when I go home, all the preventative maintenance will be done so I can enjoy it while I gather parts and build the engine components up.


Anyone got links to 85 build threads...

Just spend some time going thru old threads and searching.
BTW, '85's are the last of the carbed cars.

Yeah I loved my 85 when I had it and I am excited to get home and get it up to snuff and then start the modding process...

First on agenda... build the garage up to make room for all the toys... Lowes here I come.
