if it is a 5.0 efi car just get one of these:

you can add intake, headers, and other upgrades but no power adders. if you want to add nitrous or a supercharger use this one instead.

About all I can say is use the 'net to study about differant engines but use it carefully as there are many 'internet experts' out there.
An amazing amount of power can be had from the 302 Ford engines, it's what parts you use and how you use them.
This also costs money so if you cannot spend much you won't get much......

ok. I know i'm going to want more power than just stock. I'm not saying i'm going to buy everything aftermarket b/c i think that is kinda uselss. I found out i was getting block about a month or 2 ago and have been looking up stuff ever since. That's how i found this website and asked for advice. I'm completely new and would love a checklist or something so i know were to start and what all needs to be done for the rebuild. The short block is all i'm getting but i have no idea what needs to be done and where to even start at

your starting point is knowing what you want out of the car such as how much HP do you want? Do you care if it idles rough, how much street time is it gone to see do you have to pass emissions and so on and how much money do you have to spend. answer this and that should help others help you. Also what other parts do you have now and what can you do yourself?
