Which cam to use
I jut picked up Edelbrock performer 5.0 heads with crane cams 1.72 rockers on them. I already have a cobra intake on the car, what would be a decent cam to go with this set up. I don't want anything too aggressive as its going to be a daily driver except in the winters. Also don't have the budget to go custom (essentially I'm asking whats a good cheaper priced cam that I'll find used on corral within the next month or so that will work well with this set up and not cause me clearance issues). I'm also going to switch to hardened pushrods.

I'd look for one of the Comps Cams that you find to be compatable with your situation......
Just make sure you use NEW springs for that cam.
BTW, avoid the Ford letter series cams, they are very outdated......

What's so bad about the alphabet cams? I see people that love them and then people that hate them...I really just need a suggestion on a good one for a DD almost picked up a trick flow stage one but someone beat me to it

I'm just curious as to the letter cams also, yes they're 20 yrs old and outdated, but how much of a difference can there be? Just allaround better driveability, no more lopey idle, maybe 5-10 more hp thru-out rpm range? How much better are they really? Previous owner of my car used a letter cam, don't know which one, and I'm happy with it now that I did the 5 speed swap. If I swapped cams would it be a "HOLY CRAP" difference, or "eh, its alittle better".

I know one thing is the letter cams dont have split duration and split lift between intake and exhaust. I know the sbf motors like to breath out the exhaust a good bit so the "non out dated" cams will have a bit more duration on the exhaust side...
