Exclamation FOUND IT!!!!!

Well a couple months of go I was playing with a kid from school and spanked him...The last pull away I just cruised up to 120mph and sat there for a min and slowed back down to the speed limit. A couple of minutes later I started hearing a loud/fast tapping sound. I thought I lost a lifter or something in the valve train let loose. Eased it home for the next 30 miles and started checking it out. My brother and I pulled the valve covers and looked around, checked the plugs, and swapped the 1.7 RR's for stock ones and put it back together....Noise was still there....so I parked the car.

I then started it up for another kid at school so he could hear why I wasn't driving the car anymore......tap tap tap tap tap tap....nothing....it got quiet and had a slight miss to it....ok...then it drove fine. My brother drove it to work a couple days with no issue....oook....

Well my brother needed a radiator so I gave him mine to use since I was gonna pull the engine anyway. I pulled it yesterday and got it on the stand and apart today....and found what it was......uploading the video of the sound now....

Yup...Sh*t happens....wish I would have noticed the screw missing when I first pulled it apart and swapped the rockers out.... Then I would have known what it was and then had to play the guessing game of what cylinder....

That is an explorer 65mm... Its the fact that the shaft broke...not that the screw came out...at least as far as I can tell...Guess I stomped too hard on the gas one too man times! lol

Thanks! After I seen the marks in the piston I had a good idea on what it was...That is the only screw in the intake system that it could have gotten sucked in without the filter being off.

Little lock-tite works wonders.
I always use it when I've been messing with the screws in the butterflies of anything......
