A 4" bore (factory 302 bore) with a 3.4" stroke gives 342 cubic inches.

okay well how hard is it to do all the clearances for the crank on a 347 because now since im starting to relize the supercharger on a stroked motor is a lost cause because of the money needed and i simply dont have it. now im pretty much focused on which stroker would be best. i really still like the idea of a 347 but still of all the problems i hear about with it and all the extra clearances the have to be ground out, i dont want something thats going to leaving me sitting but i still want to stomp on it and spin the tire haha so now since im not going to boost it im deciding between 331 and 347 and a 10-1 ratio or higher.

notch the skirts for the rod bolts, that's it.................I don't consider that "all the extra clearances" to be a lot.....do you??

Notching the bores at the bottom takes about 20 minutes with the set-up I use.
Air powered die grinder and a carbide burr.
I'll post the place where you can get the tool that makes this all real easy to layout on here tomorrow or saturday

If you buy a crate motor, they will take care of the notching for you, along with matching all the components (crank, rods, pistons) so they work properly. A 302 with a nice aftermarket h/c/i combo can easily net you 350-375 very streetable hp that will roast the tires whenever you want. A 331 or 347 takes that up to 400 or so, again steetable hp. At some point, beyond 400 hp, the hp is not useable on the street - it gives nice bragging rights, and works great on the track, but all you do is spin tires on the street. The best compression ratio depends on your cam selection. I ran 10.6 with a fairly mild cam, and run pump gas in it.

Who ever told you that crap? they dont spin if you dont floor it. drive like you got half a brain and you are fine. Our car runs low 10s lifting at 1000ft and I drive it any where I want when it is up and running ..LOL Trust me it is well pass the 400HP mark.
