First off, I'd like to say that im not sure this is the correct area to post. im sorry ahead of time. anyway.
just got my 90 convert. i always thought it would be cool to have a scanner. anyone have expierience or ideas? im willing to hide it away from view, i live in mighigan i want one that works well!

I'd start here. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?stid=26, Find your county and what frequencies are used. Problem is most state/counties are going to digital trunking. A digital scanner is much more expensive, $400+. Also most agencies, if they are digital, scramble most conversations. I've had a scanner for years. My county only scrambles SWAT or stake out traffic. Now that most police cars have laptops you don't hear much excitement. They'll call in the initial stop info, and after that most info.comes via their laptop. The newest scanner are amazing. Just punch in the zip code of wherever you happen to be, and it will automatically pickup the traffic in that area. You can even plug them into a GPS, and will automatically keep tuned to where you're at.....

sounds like it could be cool. My grandpa used to have one, used to sit with him on the weekend nights and listen to the shenanigans develop lol
