Default bolt ons done... so now what

Hey everybody. So last year I bought myself a 95 mustang get with:
Cai
Gt40 heads, explorer upper and lower intake
Proform aluminum 1.6 roller rockers
Explorer throttle body (65mm)
Shorty headers
Bbk o/r x-pipe
Flowmaster catback
Smog and egr delete
Ford racing 3.73 gears
Hurst shifter ( car has a standard tranny)
Ford racing valve covers
Subframe connectors and suspension around the whole car.

The only thing I've done since I bought it is a Bama sct-4 bank eliminator chip.

Ive been to the drag strip and, using drag radials, my best is a 13.98@99 and I've been getting pretty consistent numbers right around 14.0.

Now the question that haunts us all... how do I make her faster?? The need for speed strikes again haha.

I've been thinking a cam or maybe some nitrous, 75 shot. For cams I've been looking at the steeda 19 cam since they don't affect drivability. And since winter is approaching it'd be a great time to tear the engine apart. But extra opinions are always helpful. I've got a $1000 max budget and I'd like to drop a few tenths off the 1/4 mile without loosing my drivability or butchering my mpg.... so the question is, what should i do next?

4.10 gears, real drag slicks would be a good start.
ANY cam will have some effect on 'driveability' so figure out which it will be.
I also think that I'd buy a decent set of rockers, that Chinese stuff is only about so good......

Thanks for the reply tinman. How much of a gain could be seen with 4.10s vs my 3.73s?

And for tires I have my eyes on a set of Nitto nt555 drag radials since they'll fit on my old rims. And they'll help me stay in budget a bit

How good is perform stuff or should I consider upgrading those this winter too?

I'm on the smart phone app so I can't see where your from and your sig. So I don't know what track/elevation you run at but that should be a low 13 sec car now. What were you 60ft's?

And if this is a "play" car for you, forget the drivability issues with a cam, as long as you don't go nuts on the cam choice, modern cams can give you the best of both worlds.

I live in Wisconsin so I'm not at a crazy elevation. My 60 ft times are around 2.0.

I am relatively new to drag racing, maybe 15-20 runs under my belt. so I could probably lose a tenth or 2 with practice...

but winter is coming up so ive been thinking about what mods to do over winter.

also, any drag tips would be greatly appreciated. I usually shift around 5200-5300, what do you guys shift around?

Aluminum heads. You'll need to come up off the $1000 limit though

Yeah I wish but that can't really happen. I'm on a college student budget and need some new drag radials too. So 1000is about it. Unless I just save it and wait till next winter

I'm with Duncan, some aftermarket 170-185cc aluminum heads would make a big difference, and I'd sure do that before nitrous or the cam. You could add 1.7 roller rockers crane cobra 1.7 are roughly $200, and make your existing cam bigger without tearing everything apart, but the heads would make a much bigger difference. With either the rockers or a cam, you'll need valve springs or you're likely wasting your time. I rev the engine until it stops making power. Try taking it a little higher on each run until you notice a drop in ET or mph.
