hi Everyone
I have a 1983 5.0 that when its driven for awhile it needs to cool for about an hour before it starts I have replaced the magnetic pickup in the distributer and the duraspark ingnition box.
Any thoughts?

Wrong section, you were in the S197 section for the 5.0 - be sure to watch the generation and not just look for "5.0" when you post.

Moved you to the correct section and maybe someone will be able to help you.

 

what about the coil? You need to see if your getting spark or if the spark is hot enough to start the car.

When a coil goes bad , heat increases the resistance and lessons the output of the coil. This would either be a no spark , or poor spark situation.
Rule of thumb, when checking spark ,, a white/blue spark is hot and strong... red/orange spark is weak/cool
