hey guys i have a 1993 mustang gt i was wondering what the best way to get some power
i was mainly looking at a the 306 with the trick flow top end kit
i am trying to keep the car as streetable as possible but shoot for somewhere from 320-360whp
is the 306 with the trickflow top end a good setup for this?
send me some ideas!

 

won't get anywhere near 360 rwhp with that kit 280-300 ish depending on how well you pay attention to detail.

 

with a good tune, headers and pistons wont even get near 325whp?

 

They usually max out around 300 rwhp with a h/c/i swap and bolt ons, to get above that you'll need to go with a stroker or forced induction. Keep in mind though, fox bodies are fairly light cars so 300 rwhp moves along pretty well.

 

Shane179y, one of my customers asked me the same question about five days ago. I am putting together a beautiful 363 stroker running on a Edelbrock "Air Gap" manifold with a Holley #0-4779. Nothing trik, just a basic street thumper. The RWHP will be about 450 hp. Good luck with your project. Don't have time to list all the components, but google "Ford 363 stroker build" and you will be like a little boy in the candy shop. Oh, by the way, this stroker is being stuffed into a 1987 Fox Body that has already been updated to handle the new power.

 

A 363 is great,but the main downside to it will be buying,at minimum,a dart shp block for the larger bore?? It'll probably run around $2000 shipped then the stroker kit and a top end kit will run several more thousands.I realize a stock block will be maxed out anyway,strength wise,around 450hp,but $2k
is a chunk to fork out just for the block if 350-375hp is his goal.I'd love to have a 363 myself,but I'll have to wait until I can get lucky & run across a good deal.He may have deep pockets though and have no issue with swinging the dart block.In that case,shoot for the moon.

Shanel179y, in 2010, I stuffed a 306, the same as you describe, into a 1996 Mustang LX. I don't know what tranny you are abusing, but we were using a, modified, AOD. In 2010, we ran this unit at the NMRA 2010 ALLSTAR Nationals at Z-MAX, NC. The car also had 3:73-1 rear gear ratio, and NITTO NT555R shoes. On real horse power we ran 12.8, and on a 150 hit of juice we clocked 11.7, both in the standing quarter. If you like these numbers, then play with the 306. If you want better numbers, there is a myriad of configurations to choose from. P.S., presently, on the street, we are running a 331 stroker in a 1987 FOX BODY. For full competition, we chose a 1988 Mustang Fastback with a DART 363 stroker, turboed, producing 1020 RWHP. Good luck with your project.

 

Thats not going to happen without boost or spray my best advice to you would be to ditch the 302 and goto a 351 you start off rip with more cubes than a stroker you can get for the stock 302 block and there is way more potential to grow in the long run you will be much happier i wish i would have done the 351 swap than the money i wasted playing with a 302
