So I'm at a loss here... drag raced a guy and everything was fine. About an hour later something started knocking while under a load but no knock at idle or cruising slowly through town. Also started a really bad idle that shakes the whole car and the smell of gas that makes your eyes almost water. I keep thinking a rod knock but I've never had the other symptoms with it. Any ideas what it is?

 

Sn 95 cody, there might be multiple issues here. I would suggest not assuming anything before you change the spark plugs and check the spark plug wires. Yes, this sounds goofy, but you must first have a solid base. The fact that the idle changed, and you had a strong smell of gas, might be symptoms that will lead us to the problem. Post your results.
