Default Biting the Bullet

Well I have a appointement today at three to get a X-pipe and mufflers installed. Hope I am not making a huge mistake. I will try to figure out the sound video thing people post afterwards. This shop told me that they did not recommend what I asked about over the phone due to all the popping it will make. So it sounds like they know what they are talking about. Wish me luck.

Definitely let us know how it sounds. Also how much it cost you (if you don't mind). I'm dying for a new exhaust but there is just so little out there...

So far I can tell you for a X-pipe and Flowmaster Super 44's it will be $650 including all installation. I think it is a good deal. Keep in mind this is strictly a muffler shop that has been in business for 30+ years that I stumbled upon the other day. He said he has done 5 2011 so far and this setup is the best sounding in his opinion. He told me everything else has been popping and sounding like glass packs. Which we have all got a taste of that.

Are they making a custum x pipe for you? They are easy to install yourself, and youll save installation cost.

Opi I don't know that for sure, but I am going to assume they are. My main problem is I have absolutely no way of raising the car up. I figure the cost of jack stands and all that I would need to get comfortably under the car would cost me more in the long run. Also I don't know this for a fact, but if there were any issues they may balk on fixing it if they did not install it.

I hope you aren't seriously paying $650 for that LITTLE AMOUNT OF WORK. You can buy and entire catback exhaust with new "X" or "H" pipe, mufflers, tips and Stainless pipes for that much money.

You should be more in the range of $250-300 MAX for what you have listed.

let us know how it sounds. i was behind a 2011 5.0 last night in my Expedition and couldn't hear any exhuast notes at all

Is it done yet? BTW I don't think that's too bad of a price for what you're getting done.

Ok well it is done. I think $650 is a heck of a deal. The flowmaster mufflers alone are $450. I ended up getting the X-pipe, Flowmaster Super 44's, and 4 in. crome tips. This video is terrible. The sound is a little distorted since I was doing it by myself. When the wife gets home I will try to get her to help me. No popping or glasspack sound. Woohooo! Sounds way better than this video represents.

Nice, Flowmasters are sex! I can't wait to get some pipes on mine... the stock ones are just too quiet.
