Default 2011 5.0 Automatic

Going to be getting a new 2011 Mustang GT with the automatic trans. Hurt my left foot years ago so I can't drive a manual trans. I want to get lower gears and the Brembo brakes but I believe they only offer those options for manual trans cars. Any suggestions?

Congrats and enjoy the car as is. I drive like gramps so that is why I replied the way I did. Cheers!

Worst case scenario, you just take it back to the dealer, and tell them you want the rear diff's ring gear changed out for which ever one you want in it.

If anyone comes out with a supercharger or turbo kit that legal for California, I'd probably have one put on. In that event, would the gears still be a good idea. The car will only be driven on the street and not taken to the track.

You are correct. You can only get brembos or optional gears wth the manual tranny. However, you can add the gears & the brembo's later.

I could get he gears and other mods done at JBA near San Diego but I live in Orange County near Knotts Berry Farm. Any good Mustang shops around here?

That is exactly what I would do If you cannot get the car with the gears and the Brmbos off the lot, buy them later when you get them/have the money and then get them installed.

For the gears, I thing the deepest rear end you can get is the 3.73. I do not know if that gear set comes on the automatic 2011 GTs

I have the stock 3.15 gears in my auto and I successfully pulled a 13.2 @ 109mph on the 1/4; there is definitely performance with those tall gears. I wouldn't worry too much about the 3.73 gears but it is definitely an option for later.

The auto is a beast and is even more impressive if you get it tuned. I just really hope it will last me

Low 13's from a 3.13 gear? That is impressive and also a testament to the torque the Coyote can pump out through even such gears!

I have hear of guys getting 12's on a stock 2011 GT with just a tune; but I cannot remember if they were running auto or manual.

Yea I just got mine tuned, so I'll see what that does to my 1/4 times. My stock run was so surprising that I'm betting I wont see a huge drop in times.

I've only seen one manual 5.0 run a 12.9 but I'm not sure if it had the 3.55 or the 3.73 gears. Either way I don't think it makes too much a difference in this car to have shorter gears unless you have drag radials.
