Yea I just got mine tuned, so I'll see what that does to my 1/4 times. My stock run was so surprising that I'm betting I wont see a huge drop in times.
I've only seen one manual 5.0 run a 12.9 but I'm not sure if it had the 3.55 or the 3.73 gears. Either way I don't think it makes too much a difference in this car to have shorter gears unless you have drag radials.
The 12.5 stock run was a 3.31 car. It only takes a 105.9 mph to run 12.9 on stock tires in a S197 with a good 60'. These cars will see at least 12.4 Showroom Stock this winter. I fail to see how they coundnt be at least 0.5 seconds faster than a CAI/Tune 2005+ when they are 6 mph faster.
Just got a Auto 5.0 and it is fast as heck, came from and Expedition...so anything would feel fast but I am really enjoying it, hope you will to. It will really throw you back in your seat.
I am also considering a auto, any more feed back. I was really wanting the 6 speed but the wife really wants the auto. If I get the car I would be happy either way.
The 6 speed auto is fine especially if you get the shift points tuned. It really comes down to preference. This is an example of what the auto is handling and so far its been awesome Evolution Performance Auto runs into the 11s
AM already has a SCT tuner and C&L CAI combo. Their tune really wakes up the car. Most notably the car will hold gear longer and the auto trans will have a bit more bite to its gear change.
