Default 5.0 Engine Cover.

Anyone else notice how much heat radiates out of the engine compartment of the 5.0 when the hood is popped? Much more than on the '06. Doesn't appear to be overheating though. Just disconcerting.

Wonder if removing the engine cover would help under-hood temperatures.. Anyone tried? Or do I have to be the first?

Cheers.

The engine cover will not do a thing to reduce the heat coming off of the engine. The Coyote will make that much heat, cover or no cover.

Get a Cervini hood with functional heat extractor ports (a la GT40 style!).

The '06 cast iron block compared to an '11 aluminum block. Aluminum is a better conduit for heat transfer, therefore more heat will radiate off the aluminum block than the cast iron block.
