Good choice......it all depends on personal preference.

Exactly...again I feel very fortunate to have my Snake and to have it setup the way I do...the bottom line for me...NOTHING compares to driving around with those Snakes on the side I wouldnt trade it for anything...but is it worth the extra money...as you say..."it all depends on personal preference"

Like others have suggested, it's solely about personal preference. I mean if you could afford the 11' Shelby GT500, go for it! (: But comparing both the 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 Stock and the 11' Shelby GT500, the 11' GT 5.0 is only .2 seconds slower to 60 than the Shelby..the GT is really a value really..plus you could spend the extra 20 thousand on some performance modifications that would make your 5.0 one BEAST

I love Mustangs, obviously, but if I were looking to properly dispose of $55k, I'd be looking at slightly used C6 Z06s or new 'vette GSes - not a Mustang.

That being said, I think the 5.0 is the better deal. You get 95% of the performance for 60% of the price, and the GT can probably be the better handler as well given the Shelby's nose heavy nature.

I think the 2011 GT500 doesn't have the same nose heavy issues as past incarnations. I believe they too are aluminum blocks now.

Yea.....I hear the Shelby is 300 to 400lbs heavier in the front due to the motor. I would throw a ton of parts on my 08, but I'm dying to have a new 5.0 and it's priced right..... plus my girl gets pissed when I talk about buying a vette or porsche. What it really comes down to deciding between a Shelby and a GT is that I end up selling them after a few years which means most of the time the more the car cost the more of loss in the future....knowing this makes me hesitant. After this new mustang I will probably try out the camaro....it's also fun to build Chevys

It's fun to build anything . I find German engines to actually be easier to work on . . . just more expensive lol.

the dealer i got my 5.0 from, had a gt500 for $66k. sence i got my gt for $33k i could have bought 2 for the same price as that gt500. i love shelbys and hope one day i will have one, i just cant aford that kind of price jump at the moment. the other day i was driving around and spotted that gt500 and pulled up nexted to it, the guy that bought it was probably twice my age so i guess i have something to look forword to.
