I think after all this I am leaning on the 500. I kind of was from the beginning but the new 5.0 just does something for me.

Another plus would be resale, if it ever happens, I would bet the 500 would bring more coin.

Thanks for all the reply's. Internet searching this before I nail it down. Also hoping the winter brings some better prices. Looks like 32 to 36 will get what I want.

I agree good decision.

And yes the GT500 will hold it's value more than the 5.0
Great car but remember the 5.0 is still just a "GT" in the car world.

Good decision on looking for a black one
as you said in the other thread!

I said it in the other and I'll say it here and I'll say it FOREVER...
NOTHING looks as mean on a Mustang as black!

My second choice would be grabber orange.
Wish they still had that color but you could find one on a 07-09 GT500

The BOSS 302 has a forged bottom end, and I really don't regret buying it, especially since I got it at sticker of 43.5k with the Torsen Differential and the Recaro seats. However there is a 2012 GT 500 at Jack Schmidt Chevrolet here with 1200 miles on it for 46.9K, it's the SVT package so it has the skinny stripes which I don't care for at all, someone must have traded it in on Vette. While I love the Shelby that "it" factory is way over rated though, at least around here close to an Air Force Base, I can guarantee you I get more second looks than any Shelby in this town.

Both of these cars have the "it" factor. DEFINITELY!
I don't see the Shelby factor being overrated though... at ALL.

And our town is an Air Force base town as well.
Big time. (I'm not quite following what this has to do with it though. Even though many Air Force folks
seem to love both the Mustangs and Vette's.)

Ya being on an Air Force base some cars lose that "awe factor" with me. There must be at least 10 Z06's on this base and another 5 base model Corvettes, only 2 of the newer Shelby's I have seen but there's 4-5 of the S197's like you have. I would be very surprised if someone doesn't grab that Shelby asap at that price, that's the cheapest I have ever seen one that has less than 1500 miles on it.
