I'm sure experts will pipe up, but from what I've been reading it sounds like the shorties are pointless for us. The factory headers are pretty good to start with. I know that since I can't touch my cats, I'm pretty much ruling headers out of my plans.

If your going to pay the money for headers IMO go with long tubes, you will get the best performance.

They take a good amount of time and aggrivation to install. If its going to take more then 3-4 hours, you might as well have a shop do it for you.

That came to mind. Just have to verify if LT headers work along side with the bbk after cat xpipe. On the AM site, it's said they go along with the bbk shorties, just want to make sure the same applies for LT..

If it is this one then no:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-af...pe-2011gt.html

Application: This BBK After Cat X-Pipe is designed to be a direct bolt-on for the 2011-2013 5.0L GT Mustangs with either aftermarket short tube headers or the stock factory manifolds and a dual catback exhaust installed. Reuse the stock Catalytic Converters.

I would go with Kooks part numbers

60-41-175 Longtube Headers and 60-42-catx for the cated X-pipe or 60-42-ORX for the off road X-pipe.

These parts are availible form several of the sponsors here like...

Thanks Nova. Yeah, I've been looking at those Kooks. The Kooks brand was recommended to me in another forum as well. So, I'm starting to save up some cash because I want to get the pipes and headers to go along with them (later on down the road get some CAMS as well)..

From what I've read the Ford Racing after CAT X-Pipe is a simple bolt-in and may be worth trying out. I have not started my mods yet, But that was one I was planning on doing.
