Default 1 > 4 Shift for Fuel Econ?

I see this message come up on my dashboard every time when taking off and always wonder if it makes a difference. I've tried it a few times and seems like its a little rough on the clutch. The RPMs really fall...which is to be expected...but im just not sold on skipping 2nd and 3rd.

Any thoughts? I've yet to see any documentation on the fuel econ...is this technique worth it?

It's called Skip Shift, it's there to help w/ gas mileage going from 1 to 2. It forces you into 4th vise 2nd. It isn't a big deal. There are like 4 parameters that have to be met for it to engage. It's not hurting anything. To NOT see it, just do like me, shift 1-3-5-6 when driving normally. It is covered in your owners manual.

Thanks Ditty. I've yet to read my owners manual...when I got the car from the dealership it didn't come with one....long story.

I've never seen any message appear on my dash board when it does the skip shift... Do you have the NAV system that the message appears on?

Every GT manual has it show up...

I just unplugged mine from the start.....no messing with it at all, much nicer.

Nope no special nav system. What did you do to unplug it?

I've never seen any message about shifting when I drive my car. I have the 6 speed too. I guess I will count myself as lucky to not have it then. My old RX-7 had a light on the TAC that would light up at recommended shift points and it got annoying.

I think mine gave up on trying to get me to skip shift.. seriously, the first couple of times the car did it, it locked me out of 2nd and 3rd, but now i get the message on the screen but i can still shift into 2nd.

The best way to fix the issue is to get an aftermarket tune and tell the shop to remove the feature...they can tune it right out!
