Whats the most any of you guys are throwing down in something you still drive everyday? What did you upgrade? How much is the car driven, & how often do you use the "full potential?" Trying to get a feel for what all I want to do with mine before I start gutting it.

Well motor wise alone, its a cast iron block with aluminum heads. There's plenty of potential for high hp. Really depends on how high you want to go and how much cash your willing to spend. As far as keeping it your daily driver if u upgrade the entire car accordingly as your hp goes up, well your bound to find the balance that works for you.

i think the better questions to ask - what are your goals, and what kind of a budget are you setting? easier to help clarify the kind of build you should aim for based on that.

2012 5.0, stock. I'd like to go turbo rather than supercharged, but is that going to limit my potential? Long term project, I'm going to add what I can when I can. I'd like to have the engine maxed out to still keep mpg around 10 for daily driving.

For us manual guys I wouldn't recommend forced induction until you can afford a stronger transmission like a T56 or a Tremec 6060. Personally right now for me I happy with what I have, might add an X pipe but I don't want to lose the side exhaust that come on the Boss because they sound nice right underneath the door. Headers for me just don't seem cost affective because of the install price.....no way am I personally doing that because I have heard you have to move the motor mounts to do the install.

I think you sort of answered your own question with the "how often do you use the cars full potential" comment. you can have a 650hp boosted motor but never use the full potential on the street. While that would be awesome you really can only use so much hp due to traffic, Johnny Law, etc.

You said that you were thinking about gutting the car, whats your definition of "gutted"? When I think of gutted, I picture a full bore race car with one seat, no carpet, A/C, not street legal...basically.
