Default looking for some input on two concerns

I am having two concerns with my car right now. Which, I thought someone could
give me some input. I've taken the car into the dealer about "burning"
oil. Right now, it has a little over 2000 miles and at which time has consumed
about a quart of oil. The dealer leveled it off and they told me to keep an eye
on it.

The second thing, I've noticed is a popping sound when down shifting
and letting the clutch out in third and second gear. I have yet to mention this
to the dealer because it doesn't happen all the time.

These cars burn oil. No getting around that during the break in period. Get an Air/oil filter for the PCV system on the passenger's side. Watch it and check it often. Somewhere there was a thread that posted the "out of norm" specs for burning oil as reported by Ford. Try searching for that.

The popping sound is probably the rear control arm bushings. Try to figure out what scenarios cause the problem and then take it to the dealer and duplicate it for them. If it is something you hear then it shouldn't be a big issue. If it is something you feel then it may be a bigger concern.

^^agreed

UPR's catch can keeps oil vapor from contaminating the intake.

I burnt a quart in the first 1000 miles, been fine ever since........wouldn't worry about that too much. I have no idea on your second problem.

The second problem - seems to happen only when down shifting. I'm only wondering
if I'm letting the clutch out too fast when downshifting? I have
a '08 Bullitt and don't have the same response as downshifting that car. It's
like a popping sound -- just wondering if it's the cable from the clutch?

At slower speeds I may not hear it, but downshifting at a higher RPM it seems I am more
likely to hear it.

The clutch is hydraulic so nope not it. Try making a video of it if you can and posting it. If its not the suspension bushings it could be the backlash in the drive train being taken up, but that is more of a "clunk". go to this site and look in the suspension and drive train diagnostic sections and see if anything rings a bell. Ford was pretty thorough with the diagnostic procedures/results for the shop manuals.

and

and
http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=924&viewfil...d%20Clutch.pdf

I scanned through them, didn't see anything related to downshifting that could be described as a "pop". I would still stick with my LCA bushing guess as the culprit.

The day I bought the car it had a "thick" sound when shifting, almost like a hit of base from a speaker, if that's what you're talking about it will go away once you drive it a little more.

My update about oil consumption -- The first time I took the car to the dealer it had approx. 1300 miles. At which point, I am going to assume they put about a qt. of oil in it. Basically, they leveled it off to the two hole marker.
Today, I decided to take the car back to the dealer w/ the oil level now in
between the two holes (w/ approx. 2200 miles). Now, they added another
qt. of oil. I've been suggested by the dealer to put about 2000 miles on the car and see what happens.

Now, I should add before I even started this process -- I put a qt. of oil in it myself before the first time I took it to the dealer. Thinking, this wouldn't be a problem of course. Now, the service advisors reasonsing is --the pistons, rings or valves haven't yet settled. Maybe?

I also burnt a quart worth my first 1200kms or so, I'm around 2800kms atm and oil level is still fine.

I'm assuming your rev matching it when you downshift? I've started doing alot more downshifting now that I've replaced my stock mufflers and haven't heard anything out of the norm.

It's not the exhaust during deceleration?
