Default What gears??

How to tell what gears you have other then looking at the rear end, is ther another way to do this like on the door tag, i think i have 3.55s but not for sure, if i had 3.55 and switched to 4.10s with a six speed would i notice a big performance difference, and im not worried about gas mileage because this is a weekend car!!!

The gear ratio tag is on the rear end cover. 4:10's not good for daily driving better for racing. 3:55's perfect for the street.

Jack up the rearend. Put a mark on the drive shaft and a mark on one of the tires. Have somebody turn the wheel one full turn. Count how many times the driveshaft turns. If it turns 3 1/2 times you have 3.55, a little over 4 turns, you have 4/10. This is the only other way I know of without a tag, unless you drain the fluid and read the gear set.

Just remember the mt82 trans is geared lower through the gears then any tremec so 3:31's on the mt-82 is equivalent to 3:73's on a tremec! So 4:10's would be rediculous with an mt-82 .

if you have your window sticker it will say if you have anything other than the non-optional gearing, which i believe is 3.55s in the manual.

I like the 4.10s in my car, but you might want an opinion from someone with a manual. Most of the guys that have 4.10s and a manual like it, you usually hear people who don't have them saying it's no good, or you have to shift too much/too fast. and it might be true. I'd say try the 4.10s out, if you dont like them pull them and sell them and get 3.73s. my guess if people dont mind 3.73s in the stock brembo package cars most people wouldn't mind the 4.10s too much either if they tried it.

The difference will be noticeable for sure. If its a weekend car anyway, go with the 4.10s. I went 3.73s on my supercharged 09 and always wished I had gone 4.10s.

That said, one of my favorite past mods, and an often overlooked one, is an aluminum driveshaft. That made a nice difference in feel and performance for me. If I were looking to do any driveline modification, that is what I would buy first for myself.
