Default 30 MPGs from a 5.0???

First and foremost I want to say that I am going to do all of this for the PERFORMANCE benefits of the upgrades. MPGs will be a nice addition because i drive 92 mile each day.

So with that out of the way Here is how i plan on getting to 30 (or at least close) while cruising at 80.

1. Air raid cold air intake (installed)
2. Bama tune - street i'm assuming
3. aluminum drive shaft
4. Lowering springs
5. flowmaster catback exhaust Hushpower
6. New rims & tires - hopefully lighter weight
7. Royal purple in engine, trans, diff.

If I get desperate/bored
90mm Throttle body
Accell coil kit
remove spare tire and jack

Currently the car has 3.15's and i'm getting 24 MPGs when I resist the urge to play, which is very difficult in these cars. Does this goal sound reasonable? Any more ideas? Thanks guys!

sofaking5.0,

Sick ride man! I love the new edge mustangs in Race Red!

That is a serious build list! I think you will be really happy with all of those mods. Gas mileage is going to be huge since that's what your looking for, However the power gain from that set up is going to be unbelievable!

With more air, a lower stance, less rotating mass, better flowing exhaust, a diet & TUNE you can expect your stang to get around 26-27MPG Highway! We see top results in fuel economy cruising at 60MPH, Accell coil set up will also help with gas mileage & MPG!

I think you are on a good track to get great gas mileage & have a really fast 5.0!

I hope this helps, hit me up if you need further assistance or have any questions!

- Dan

30mpg won't happen at 80mph without a long downhill slope.

I got 32 going 60mph downhill in my 5.0 with cai+tune (return from a trip to the mountains)

so yeah, maybe upper 20s if you are careful, lower mph will be your best bet on fuel economy.

It is possible to see 30 mpg avg. but you will only see it on straight flat hwy and you cruise control set at 70 mph. Any faster and you never get near it. While on the freeway, you can never put your foot on the gas ever. You have to leave it incruisecontrol. And when accelerating to hwy speed, you have to accelerate like a grandma.

Newark Delaware to Myrtle Beach at an honest 70 mph the whole way without using cruise control = 26.7 mpg.

2011 GT: 3.31 gears,Stainless Works long tubes, hi flow cats, x pipe and chambered mufflers.Steeda intake and a custom tune.

I'd ask for hard data on the accel coils providing more MPG or power before spending money on them. I've never seen any.
