NITTO INVO'S
I decided to get rid of the Pirelli tires on the rear and go with 255/40/19's. My impression after just over 100 miles and several hard rolls from a stop and I am extremely impressed with how well they hook and go. I have a question for anyone running them or that has ran them at the drag strip. What psi were/are you running them at? Did you just clean them off or do a full burnout?
thanks!
I've got a pair of General 275/40/19's and I smoke them off at the strip. I've done the whole "cleaning off" and find that I will hook up better if I put a little extra heat to them. I also dont launch hard at all. Fastest time so far on a 1/4 mile is 12.550 at 116MPH
I run Invos on the street and they work pretty good for that even in heavy rain. They are not drag tires Nitto makes those and if you're looking for hook up and tire to last a little while you should have gotten those.
For the Invo's general recommendation at the drag strip is avoid the water box and do a very short spin, you shouldn't see any smoke if you do it right. burning a regular tire will make them kind of "greasy" the spin is only to get rocks and junk out. Personally for street tires I don't even spin them, i go around the water box and just launch, thats the best 60' i've had is using that method, no spinning of the tires.
A drag radial or slick needs a good burnout and the compound benefits from it, becoming softer, you can push your finger on it and it will stick, with a street tire you wont get that. So you can test it that way, do a burnout and then go out and see how sticky and soft it feels, usually it wont be, with my drag radials after doing a burnout the compound is so soft everything sticks to it, i have little rocks all over them after i get back to the pits.
anyway, sorry crzyhrs but with that trap your et is pretty low, what kind of 60' are you getting? You should be able to find a sweet spot where your tires grab and you can launch decently, getting a 1.8 60' on stock tires should be possible and the people that get that 60' say don't do any sort of burnout.

I use the G-Max AS03s as my winter tires, and they're fantastic for that purpose (quiet, smooth and good grip in cold conditions) but with a treadwear rating of 480, they're not exactly the stickiest tires in the world and would think they'd have a tough time hooking as well as a good summer tire ... my 2-cents.
