#8 cylinder issue(tune /warranty issue)WHAT

called ford motor company
I called Ford Motor Company, Customer Service, for clarafication of installing CAI, Tunes, even Boss Manifold,(which I said was a Ford part they sell).
She said: The Ford Factory Warranty is just that. It covers all components that are factory installed only. She said: Installing any aftermarket, including the Ford Boss Manifold, is not a factory item and therefore not covered. You still have warranty on the rest of the car. If a component of the car fails, your warranty will cover it unless the failure was a direct result of the installed aftermarket item. She said: Having aftermarket stuff does not cancel your warranty nor mean you would not still have a warranty on a failed part. She said: Only if installed part was the cause and that would have to be proven.
I know some will say: The dealer will just say the aftermarket part was the cause. But if I just installed a CAI and my engine had an oil leak, I HIGHLY doubt the dealer would say the CAI caused the oil pan to leak, or the piston ring failed cause of a CAI. Or if I had a custom tune to go along with it that that could cause it. I understand there is a risk but how many CAI does AM or C&L Performance or any other sell and those people end up with problems and no warranty. I think, living here in Kansas , I probably face a better chance of hitting a DEER going to work at 5 am then a problem with installing a CAI and custom tunes.
I think I will eventually just get the CAI and Tune. Afterall, it is not like installing a supercharger. How much havoc can 25 or 30 hp create.

I have the C&L CAI installed on my 2012 GT along with the SCT Tuner (BAMA Tuned) and no issues yet (installed 5 months ago). Any power gain? Maybe or it could just be all in head, but I can honestly say that I do notice a difference when I program the 91 performance and 93 race. It's hard to tell any difference with the 87 street. I've never dynoed my Stang so I'm unable to give you any HP gain by the numbers (if any). Anyways, I'm happy with the product and the main reason I purchased it was for the looks. So no cylinder#8 issue on my end.
Oh, only one issue. One of my files were corrupted while loading another tune in which shut the car off. I resolved by loading the stock tune back in, called BAMA, they sent some new tunes, and I was back in business..
Hope this helps and good luck with your decision..

I really dont worry about factory warranties, I had a 350 WHP VW GTi that I took to the dealer all the time and they loved to oh and ahh all over it. They replaced my axles twice without batting an eye. If Ford can pull data logs showing where the tune caused the malfunction then so be it. They know they have an issue even with stock cars so there is always that, Im not worried about it. I just dont care. I'm a gear head, always have been a gear head. Im not going to drive a substandard performance car when there is an easy fix for it.
