Just ordered Borla S-Type!
I just ordered the Borla S-Type for my 2013 5.0L and couldn't be more excited. The reason I chose the S-Type over the Atak is because I want a really deep, rumbly sound.
My friend has the Atak on his 2011 GT and it was loud, but when I drove it I just wasn't digging the racecar sound that he likes; he is aiming for the sound of my dad's 900HP Supersnake (which will never happen) haha!
For a little background info - My mom has a 2011 GT350, I dont know if anyone has had a chance to hear what they sound like, but let me tell you it is beyond amazing. Hands down best-sounding car I have ever heard; it literally rumbles the ground when you are standing outside! That is the sound I am aiming for. So, I was doing some research on it trying to find the kind of exhaust they out on it, but all i got was that it is a "Borla style" exhaust. And when i put it on the lift, I saw that it doesn't have any aftermarket headers. It looks like its just custom-made from the cats back. And I know the sound has a lot to do with the dual exhaust in the center right next to each other. I can load a video of the GT350 sound if anyone would like to hear it.
My question is for anyone who likes a super deep, throaty sounding exhaust. What should I do on top of the S-Type to make my car sound like a monster?? Like I said before, I dont think I want to do the headers and all that because from what i've heard that seems to make it raspier. HELP!

I have Borla's on my '12. Loud when you are going through the gears and stepping in it, but otherwise just a nice deep idle. Almost whisper quiet with a low rumble. Start with just changing the axle backs. That may be exactly what you are looking for.

I dont like to be cocky, but i think my 2010 is one of the best sounding GT's that ive heard in a while. Deep, Loud, Throatiness. Its pure Sex.
To answer your question, it depends on your finanacial situation.. SLP headers, BBK headers, ARH headers, or Kooks headers are some of the best. Then you have to decide between longtubes vs shorttubes and get a corresponding x pipe (or H). either way, Borla is expensive but you get what you pay for. Hope this helps!
+1 on the h-pipe. I live in Alabama...you can run nothing and get away with it. We joke that the county to the west of us does not have a muffler shop, and that the auto parts places only carry exhaust pipe & flex pipe. No mufflers.
Stupid question, but remind me what O/R means? haha and thanks for all the input! i was watching some videos on youtube of the MBRP long tube headers and offroad h pipe. I really like what i have heard so far but am still wondering if it is going to be too raspy for me.
