Default Shifting 2013 Automatic

I have recently bought a 2013 5.0 with the automatic and shifting it in sport mode seems to be slow in response causing the engine to hit rev limiter. Always had sticks this is my first auto. Any suggestions on how this things shift when racing them?

In Normal Mode shifts are early for economy. The Sport Mode is meant to shift later for maximum RPMs for racing.

I get that the sport mode is meant to hold the shifts out but when I do shift it responds very slowly almost have to make sure I shift at say 6500 to get it to shift at 7000. And i put it in sport mode to hold the shift out just messing around and was driving normal and it shifted to second without me shifting it. Just wish the wife could drive the 6m and I wouldn't have this problem. lol

The wife not being able to drive a manual is a SOLUTION.

You got me there! That's kind of what I thought to but now I am thinking about just getting another one since she likes driving it so much. The next one would be a manual that I could use to race. Love the new 5.0

I think the Sport Mode is meant to shift automatically on it's own. If you manually shift it, try leaving it in Normal Mode. Maybe the computer needs a tweaking in that area.

I am just going to have to fool around with it until I find out the right racing combination. Planning on taking it to the track in a couple of weeks to see what it will do stock. Then going to take it over to Evolution Performance since the are up the street from where I work and get tune and CAI and exhaust. Not sure on the exhaust yet. Any suggestions on something between mild and wild sounding?

Don't manually shift it. Just put it in D and let the tranny work for you.

For racing.. put it in sport mode and just floor it. The computer will do a better job than you.

For tooling around town.. then use the "manual" shifter to keep it in your preferred gear. From a dig though, let the auto do its thing.

if you want it to hold shifts longer and shift quickly at red line i suggest you get a tune from anyone of the reputable vendors on here. i have mine done and it shifts way faster and firmer than stock and will hold gear all the way to redline.
