Default Blue Smoke on startup

I have almost 19k miles on my 5.0 and today on startup after the hurricane I noticed 2 seconds of blue smoke out my driver side tailpipe. It is a little cold out and perhaps I never noticed this. I started it up warm a few times in my search for gas which was a failed try and its fine. Is this normal after its been sitting for a lil?

Yep, normal. An oil separator would do wonders. Are you stock? Any mods? A signature with more info on your car would be a big help.

Got it once or twice too. Catch can and GT500 PCV valve for me to address. Catch can alone didn't totally eliminate it but, I haven't seen it since adding the GT500 valve.

I used the JLT can, which is clip-clip, factory hoses, 10 second install.

I noticed on my 05 and now my 12 also that if I cranked it up for a short period, like to move it outta the way of my wifes car or to wash it, in other words for less than a couple of minutes. Then when I recranked it the next morning it would blow a puff of blue smoke. I have always figured that the motor is choking and running super rich when it is shut down and then it is choked again when it is restarted and richened again so the large amount of gas in the cylinders burns off quickly as puffs of blue smoke. I've never noticed anything bad relating to this condition, just the nature of the beast, I guess.

Could always do a compression check, or at least pull the plugs and make sure they all look the same. Just to be safe. Pretty easy to get the plugs out. PVC oil is one thing, getting past the rings is a whole other problem!

+1 on the JLT I went with it at 500 miles.
