Before he sold it to me, my son put a supercharger on my 05 V6. He told me he custom tuned it with a Diablo tuner, modifying the fuel and advance tables to maximize proper mixture and avoid knocking. It was flexible enough to go from Denver at 5500 ft up to 10000 feet in the mountains and down to sea level.

He said for the most part, he would wait until the engine threw a code, then go in and make changes then drive again. Not as rigorous as your approach, but he readily admits he is probably not getting maximum power. He did say if he were to do it again, he would get a different tuner because the model he had is out of date now.
