I used a hand pump from Napa and put a brass 90 degree elbow in the end of the tube. Took just a couple of minutes to fill the trans.

+ 1 you can't overfill it, it's virtually impossible.

Can you link the specific pump and maybe a link to the elbow used. I would love to purchase what is proven to work! Thanks again

Go to napa online and put in part number (bk 7151245). It is a suction/transfer pump. I think I gave about ten buck for mine. Get them to sell you a 90 degree brass fitting that will fit in the end of the hose.
Put a clamp on the hose to hold in the fitting.

To filll trans just pull the handle back and lock into place. Remove the end cap and fill cylinder with lube. Then put the elbow into the tranny fill hole and use the handle to push the fluid into the trans. Best to have some one hold the fitting in the hole just in case. You will have to do this a few times to get it full.

Works well for filling the rear end also.

ETA: Showing $14.50 online for the pump

You CAN over fill a gravity-fill trans, but it's VERY hard to do. You'd have to add trans fluid under extreme pressure and cap off the fill/overfill hole VERY quickly. The only way to over fill it is if you are trying to.
Basically, you just add fluid until it starts draining out the hole you're filling to, when it almost stops, put the cap back in. Done. Should take just a few mins.

I'm also one to tell you that having low fluid in the trans is BAD! Ask my wallet about the $6000 trans bill I paid years ago on my F-350 when a trans cooler line blew out and drained all 7 qts of Manual Trans Fluid all over the freeway on the hotest day of the year! It was NOT pretty.

Thanks for the info on the overfill! As for being low, I can only see myself being a quart low tops. Just going to baby it until Saturday when I filler up!

Okay so went to napa and picked up the pump you listed, had them find me a brass elbow with 2 clamps as recommended by bad pony. As an additional measure I also purchased a small tube to connect to the elbow fitting and another clamp.

Went to my hobby shop on base with a friend this time! Using just the elbow nipple, the fluid still came immediately back out. We forced in the smaller tube and were able to fill the transmission until overflow came out. Looks like I was only a half a quart low.

I must say now there is a huge difference! One, just in being a quart low it has a major negative impact on shifting. Two, redline MTL is just a good improvement over motor craft! I will never change so far off my first impressions, but e real test will be longevity of the fluid.

Thank you for all the help everyone I couldn't have done it without all the tips!

Last quick question, what do you guys think about recommended next change? Thanks again!
