Default MGW or Barton Short Throw

So I'm torn between the two. I hear so many great things about both of them, more towards MGW, but I would still like to hear from people who actually have one or the other or have used both. Any comments, compliments, or complaints would be great. Thanks guys!

I have the MGW in my 2012 GT. Flawless operation. Day & night compared to the stock shifter. I have not missed a single gear since I installed it. The current Barton only solves about 2/3rds of the problem with the shifting IMHO. Barton is coming out with a shifter that is comparable to the MGW if it is not out already. Don't know about price on the Barton. I am sure some one else will chime in for more info on that for you.

I have MGW. Awesome.

Checked out Barton's website and thought to myself, "Oh how cute, someone copied MGW and added $100 to the price!"

Edit: Mine is for 2007 S197 but still see no real benefit of the Barton over MGW with way more cost.

Easy enough, sounds like MGW is the way to go. How difficult and time consuming is the install? Anything I should make note about before I do it myself?

Nothing to it really. They have installation videos on their website. I did mine myself on jack stands. Took about 4 hours. If you could get it on a lift it would cut out an hour easy. A helper would speed it up a little too.

Default MGW or Barton

I don't know much about the Barton, but MGW is a known quantity. I was in the first "beta group), one of the first 100 MGWs sold. This, as far as I'm concerned, it is the finest shifter available - period. MGWs customer service is also top o' the heap. It's your money, your car and your choice.

I think the general consensus with most is that MGW is #1 and Barton is a solid #2 ... I have the Barton and bracket and think it's fantastic. Never felt an MGW. But I have not missed a shift with my Barton, either ... but the "replace everything" approach of the MGW is certainly attractive.

The new Barton unit is not out yet, I emailed them in October and they said it was expected to be out in 8 weeks. Pricing at Mustang Week was 400-425 for the base unit, and even more for the transmission mount. Here we are 16 weeks later and its still not out. It pretty much looked to be an exact copy of the MGW unit, so they may have hit a legal wall there. MGW has a unit out, many happy customers, and cost the same as the Barton with the two post bracket.
