Default Changing Transmission Fluid

I have a 2013 GT 6-Sp manual with 3.73 rear. I want to change the transmission fluid to improve shift quality and feel.

I have heard that Amsoil or Redline MTL are improvements over the factory fluid.

What fluid do you recommend? What weight fluid?

Did you really find an improvement over the factory trans fluid?

I swapped to redline MTL around 6500 miles, currently just rolled over 13700. Noticeable improvement in my honest opinion. Once the fluid gets hot shifts much better! I would recommend this and get 3 quarts. Did it myself takes some patients but worth it!!!

Same as Slowbra302 here, and yes it is a PIA to put in unless you have access to a lift.

I went with the Amsoil MTF synchromesh with noticeable improvement. I also went this route because Amsoil has a pump assembly that screws right onto the quart bottles, I did not have much trouble doing the changeout just on jackstands.

For those who have done the fluid change, is the fill plug in the same location on the MT-82 as on the 2005-2010 trannies (I think TR3650?)? There is a great How to TSB located here: https://mustangforums.com/forum/gt-s...ion-fluid.html. If the fill hole is located in the same location on the newer MT-82 then this how to should be very helpful.

A cross-eyed monkey could figure this one out under the car. There is a big drain bolt near the tailshaft housing on the bottom and bit of a way up the block on the pass side there is a fill plug. Fill it up until it's a little below the level of the fill plug hole and rock on.

Amsoil 75W-90, its working but I switched to a new shifter at the same time so IDK what factors to contribute to the fluid itself.

I was thinking about going with the Amsoil Manual Synchromesh 5W-30. I would have never thought to use a 75W fluid in my trans. You guys obviously have experience with it, so I might go with the higher weight.

Do you use your car regularly at the track, or DD? My car is a DD, I live in DE too, but I just want to make sure that using 75W oil in the winter is ok. Thoughts?
