Default Wrong CAI...

Ok, so I got my CAI today from American Muscle and I was so excited! It was 9:00 when I got home and 10:00 when I decided to get it installed tonight to show off tomorrow before the weekend! So I started... Now here I am four and a half hours later frustrated as heck because this darn CAI wouldn't go on. The tubes don't seem to fit right, the rubber pieces don't seem to be the right size, and even if the pieces were to fit, one air sensor can't reach the hole, and the other one just doesn't fit in it. I'm really hoping the wrong model was sent and this was just a mistake, otherwise I got a defective product.

For reference, my order number was 407348
I ordered:
-14002 Mustang V6 Cold Air Intake Kit (99-03 V6) $74.99

Thanks

I'm pretty sure I spoke to you this afternoon -- Brick will be looking into this on Monday. Regardless of whether it's a defective product or we sent you the wrong one by accident, we'll get you taken care of. I'm sorry it couldn't be fixed by the weekend!

Yeah, that was me, I'm just so anxious to get this all put on! I've got the modding bug now and I just want more, haha. Hopefully if this all works out I'll probably be picking up some rims or possibly gears/t-lok.

Here it is past the end of the workday on Monday and I was told that they would be getting back to me. I received neither an e-mail or a phone call today. I'll be calling up tomorrow since I wasn't contacted.

Very dissatisfied. I called up today and spoke with Bryan and they don't believe that this product doesn't fit. It clearly states on the website that it includes "all accessories needed." and that it is a "Simple self installation!" Apparently not that simple since my plastic sensor will not fit in the hole, Much Less Reach! And my father is a mechanic and he could not get it to work either. I will now have to take time out of my day to get out there and install this air intake that I know does not fit in order to take more pictures that clearly show it doesn't fit. Here are the pictures I sent that show the rubber hose doesn't reach and that the wire sensor doesn't fit in the rubber grommit. The person I talked to told me to try and sell this on eBay or to a friend... I don't think I'd sell a part that doesn't work to a friend.

I am so unbelievably sorry that no one got back to you, and that you had a bad experience on the phone. Since I have no idea what's going on with this, I'm going to have to put you on pause for just a minute so I can look into the situation and see what we can do.

Again, I'm so sorry.

Hey,

I gave you a call and left you a message, but let me post it here in case you don't get it.

From what I can gather from the pictures, the only issue you're having is getting that hose over the metal. All you need to do is remove the plastic piece from the rubber hose, and slide the hose over the pipe.

I'm going to try and install it again today so I can take pictures and show more clearly what's going on. I'll take off that plastic piece and see if it fits, but it looks like it's going to be a tight squeeze, and the tube coming off the throttle body was quite crooked, but I'll see. I'm going to have a mechanic with me tonight who will be helping with the install just in case. How far in is that other sensor supposed to go in, because I took the sensor out and held the tube and tried again and that other plastic sensor doesn't go in all the way either (into the rubber grommit). Thanks.

If you try turning that other tube, also, you won't have a crimp in the wire and the sensor will be closer to the rubber hose. It doesn't have to go on completely, just enough so that the hole is covered.

Installed it with the help of a mechanic and well, all I can say is you get what you pay for. I don't know about the rest of the Mustang community but I refure to settle with a part that is just barely on or that is an improper fit so I ended up filing down the lip on my air temp sensor to get it to fit in the whole properly and had to purchase a new rubber intake hose and new rubber connectors (used radiator hoses that narrowed in diameter) so that there were no gaps and they could be angled properly. If you want a cheap cold air intake, by all means, get this one, but if you want a good cold air intake, Autobadges.com has Mac airfilters and their service is absolutely amazing.
