Default TMPS sensor

I am looking into getting a set of wheels (GT4 18x9) and tires (nitto255/45-18) and was wondering about the TMPS sensor band. What exactly does this band do? I see that I would need 4 of them....would I just bring everything to a shop..have them mount the tires with the band?...

I ve heard after the 07 models all vehicles are going to have the tpms sytem on the cars? not sure about that!! sucks for those who do check there own tires. the cost is to much for the benifit... IMO

Depending on what rim you are running now, you can transfer both the sensor which is part of the stem and the band.
If you go somewhere like tire rack or another site they can install (new) all of them for you.
If you use any other sensor than what came for you vehicle you must recalibrate the new sensors/bands to the cars computer.
Or you reuse the sensors and get different bands for the size rim you are using. You stillmight have to recal them.

Another way (deemed unsafe )(which is like removing the tag of the pillow is the pvc method) putting Your original sensors/bands in a short pvc tube (pressurized) to right pressure
Or you can hit the reset button every time you start your car.
the tire pressure sensor moniter readout might come on some other time but rarely.
I am not sure how running no pressure moniter sensors/bands will effect traction control system.

This is why its so hard to find wheels or different wheels for the 07 up S197 mustangs. that and the offset

Take a look at this article that I wrote when I was still at the company: http://www.americanmuscle.com/unders...tang-tpms.html

That should answer all of your questions.

Yeah, I know. Some habits are hard to break. But I wrote that, and I'm proud of my work.

But yeah, I'm not with the company anymore.
