Default Underdrive Pulleys

Hello.

Browsing your online catalog. Looking at underdrive pulleys.

I have a 2001 GT. How do I know if I need a Late 01-04 or a 96-Mid 01 part number?

Midway through the production run for the 2001 model year Ford changed the design of the water pump on the 4.6L engine. The older style pump produced from 1996 to mid 2001 had a longer shaft. In January of 2001 the design of the pump was changed to a shorter shaft. This necessitated a change in the design of the pump pulley

Sorry for the delay. The easiest way to figure out which pulley you need is to check the stock water pump pulley and see which one you have. If the capitol I is the engine and these ) ( symbols represent how the pulley looks on your car in regards to facing towards or facing away from the engine, it would look like this:

I ) on a 96-2001ish (convex)

I ( on a 2001-2004 (concave)

If yours is like the first one, you'd have the earlier model water pump and will need the ones for a 96-01 and if it looks like the second, you'd need the new model. Check out the pictures of the "SR" pulleys here:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/9904-m...ve-pulley.html
and you can see what I'm talking about in reference to them being convex or concave.

I hope this helps! If you're still having trouble, give our Parts Experts a buzz at 866-727-1266 and they can help you out with it. Good luck!

Thanks Chris.

I forgot I had this post up.

The sticker inside my door says 12/00. I also have the early version of the IAC so I'm assuming I have the earl production water pump as well.

Thx!

Yes, you're likely to have the early version of the water pump.

Always glad to help! Please don't hesitate to post up or PM me if you have any questions in the future. Have a great night!
