W7 is a good sub but pretty expensive. id say look at RE audio ( www.reaudio.com) their subs sound like JL but can do anything they can for a cheaper price.

you might want to look at some treo's.i dont think it will void your warranty unless you hack up the factory wires

You will not void your warrant yjust by running a sub, or 10 for that matter. Now messing with the altenator perhaps, or something, would void you warranty...

how can you guys suggest speakers to that guy when you dont even know what he wants them to do what type of enclosure what kind of power and what kind of price or what type of music he listens too. all the suggests so far are useless unless you know this stuff. and how can a dealer suggest stuff that you dont even know is right for him.

i'm no dealer and i suggest jl audio 10w7, you never go wrong with that sub. i had a kicker l7 12 and just switched over to a 10w7. both are great subs and well known brands like these can be taken care off within an hours drive of anywhere. i've been using these two brands for 13 years and never had to send anything in for repair. whatever your choice make sure you hear them first hand in a car not on some wall and not by someones word over the internet.

He dosnt even have a sub yet so why would he have a box. if he was going to get a JL sub he would need a box built just for that or an RE sub then a box for that. but if everything was even and he got a 13w7 in a custom box to do what he wants the new XXX in a custom box built to specs would do everthing the w7 could but better.

canefan,
you will not void your warranty by just installing a sub unless it can be proven that the sub and/or install caused the problem....as far as sub choices go it would come down to how much you want to spend and what you're looking for out of the sub....spl....sq....a little of both....and what types of music you prefer....JL DD RE are all good companies but I believe you could be better helped by giving us some more info on what exactly you are looking for.
