The 2002 isn't the exact same head unit as the 2004, so that won't work with your stereo, nyjets10. Sucks, I've got an '01 with the 460 and im still looking for a solution for my ipod myself.

 

There seems to be a great deal of argument between which head units work with which adapters. There should be an actual model number on the back of the radio. This is a much better indicator of combatability than what the radio looks like.

I purchased a similar adapter for my 2003 that did not work...go figure.

 

I will confirm that the PIE FRD03-AUX/S works for the 2004 Convertible V6 Mustang Mach 460 system. Works great.
