Seperate stock CD player quit
I have a 95 GT with the Mach 460 Sys. The H/U is a tape deck, and below there is a seperate Ford CD palyer... Well, the CD player does not work ...
My question is, how does the CD player hook into to the main H/U .. and could I bypass the CD player and run a line-in adapter from my iPod (RCA to mini-jack) to the HU instead...
I think the speakers sound fine, plus I kinda want to stick to the stock stuff so I do not give somebody a reason to slash through my top to get at my system...
Thanks...

when you put a disc the cd player sends 4.7 volts to the radio and that make it switch to cd input you have to find that cable with a meter and them put a switch or keep the cd rememnber the input needs to be 4.7 volts
behind the radio there is 2 plugs the top plug is audio input in that plug the midle is ground that is all i can remmember there was instructions to do this
in the sony service manual for 1994 and 1995 it is a red book i have no idea where my book is is been 10 years lol but if you can find a sony dealer maybe they can make you a copy of the instructions

Y does the cd player not work, will it not take cds or does it not have power?

Ford cd players have micro switchs on the inside that sense if the cd is in place. One or both of sensors bad will cause that problem. This can be fixed by taking the caseing off the top of the cd player, and using and electrical cleaner on the switchs. If you feel you have a good grasp on mechanical work you should be able to do it. Its not to intimidating. You pull the cd play and unplug everything. Take it inside and pull the case off of it. You might have to take the face off by unscrewing it and unplugging it from the board but I dont remember. Once the case is off there should be two switch one on each side of cd slot ~ 3 inchs from the front. Spray the switchs with electrical cleaner and operate them multiple times with a toothipick or something. Let it dry out good then put it back together. I have seen a few fixed that way.
really that is a good fix I wish I would have known that before I bought a new Head Unit last week. Oh well I got a new JVC and it's got an adapter to plug in a USB thumb drive.
