Inside the 460's 6-CD changer...
I had issues with my 6-CD changer - wouldn't work - so I decided to just take it apart so I can try to fix it
I will not go into detail to remove the dash since there are many sites that cover this.
Just some words of wisdom:
-When taking off the middle dash there are two plastic clips on top of the vents, you would have to press them down in order to get the dash out
-I didn't have to take off my automatic shifter, but the more clearance... the better
-Disconnect both the + and the - battery terminals when doing this
-Make sure you have a medium sized flat head ready so you can pop out the connectors (fog, trac, etc)
-If you plan to take the CD player apart, make sure you had the unit off for at least 10 minutes or else it will be too hot to handle
-When taking the CDs out, watch out for the _tiny_ springs, or you will be there for quite a while putting everything back together :P
-While you have the CD player open, clean the lens, and etc
-As the sticker says on the CD player - do not drop it!
-When putting back in the car, make sure it goes back on the rails
-Try everything out before doing final hookup
-You will hear it go through the boot sequence (going through every disc) thats perfectally normal when reconnecting everything
-Enjoy!
Tools neded (for the most part):
- 9/64 wrench or ratchet - to take the CD6 out (will have to double check on that size)
- Philip screw sizes PH0, PH00, and PH000 (in some cases)
- Torx sizes T7, T9, T15 (could vary)
- Flat head scew driver
After all of this, it works!!! I probably will go aftermarket soon, but its good to fix things :P
