WHERES THE BASS
I think you should get a ported box with the sub and ports both facing the front. That way the sound waves will be more focused toward you keeping the sound waves from scattering. If you can try to point the port so it doesnt point into the where the top folds into the trunk rather around the edge of it if possible.
I dont know why you would want to face the subs toward the rear your sending the sound waves away from you.

Well, your problem is you need a new cd player. You probobly don't have a flip up screen cd player. In order for the bass to stay on you have to have that kind of cd player. It won't work with normal cd players. My advice, call best buy, and ask them if they have and cd player with a cd59rt code in them. If yes, then buy that one, it will definitely keep the bass going strong, and probobly double the loudness factor.

trust me, nothing's wrong with your deck. my advice would be to reposition the box until you find a "sweet spot". in my old car, with the sub facing rearward the bass was much deeper. how does it sound with the top down and the windows up?
Dude seriously, think of it this way. If we were in a cave, and I hit two pans togethor imagine how loud it would be. Ok, now picture us in the iranian desert, imgine how not as loud it would be.
