If you are really set on Pioneers, then I would look at something like 3-Ways. 2's aren't going to give you the best highs, and 5-Ways are overkill.

I have never even heard of 5 ways. That is crazy

Yeah, 3 ways are the way to go. I personally wouldn't go pioneer however.

I must admit that 5 way, in my mind, is nothing more than a sales gimick. The highs are shrill. Component is by far the best sound and a good quality coaxial, if that's what you need, is much better than 3, 4 or 5 way. As far as brand, your choice. My 2 cents? Pioneer has not made a good speaker for 20 years. As with any advice, take it for what it's worth. Some folks love them, some don't.

Do yourself a favour, listen to them and decide for yourself.

From my experiance, speakers are definatly one of those things where you get what you pay for. There is a reason why you can get Pioneer 6x9s 3 ways for $50
