Default stereo installation problem

picked up a pioneer 4800 today, got the wiring harness as well
however, when it powers up, i cannot get any sound out of it, i tried putting in a cd and then trying the radio and what not but with no luck, i didnt think you could wire a speaker backwards rite? i just matched the wires up with the harness, didnt think that would give me trouble, the only wires i could not figure out what to do with were the ones from the harness that were for the dimmer, power antenna, and the other blue one, it was for remote amplifier control or something, and the only wire that is still free from the head unit is the one for remote amplifier control, but it has a funny plug on it, do i need to connect it with the other blue wire on the harness and then that will work with the factory amplifier? any ideas here? it also said something in the harness package about how if you had a mach 460 or premium audio setup you would need a different harness, does my 6 speaker setup qualify as premium audio and thats why its not working? really confused here, i would think that it would have to at least work somewhat....

it sounds like you need to just hook up the amp turn on, as long as your harness plugs into the factory which i am assuming it does....
just hook up the CD players blue/white to the amp turn on in the harness....

the remote wire is mandatory when installing your radio, thats what sends the signal to you amp for it to turn on.

Just as an FYI, though you can't wire a speaker "backwards" per se, if you wire it - to + and vice versa, it will be out of phase and not sound as good. easy test is to hook a AA battery to the speaker leads + to + on the battery. If the speaker moves out, you got it right. if it moves in, reverse the wire polarity.

This will lead to a lack of bass and bad sound, but will not make a lack of sound.
