ok I know it isnt fancy or expensive. The whistler 1730 is like $40 at walmart. It has been real good for me. So good that when some as*hole stole my first one. I bought the same one to replace. It is real sensitive to signals.

if you are looking for a cheaper one get the cobras. the reason the higher end ones are more expensive is that they have all the updated radars that are out and they dont have as many false alarms and warm you ealier so you have more time to react. my bro has a old cobra but it gives off tomarrow false alarms in the city. but thats normal for any radar detecter but it will work fine on the highway.

I want to gte a radar detector, but i live in Canada were it is illegal everywhere to have one. Are there any detectors on the market that cops cant pick up with there radar guns. I am wondering because my buddy used to have one and a cop picked him off and not only gave him a ticket for speeding, but another one for owning a detector. The ticket came to around 600$. Or how do cops know you have one, because he had his in his trunck and as soon as the cop came up to the door, he told my buddy that he was getting an extra ticket for owning a detector. Anyways can anyone tell me how they can detect your radar detector, and if there are any out there that they cannot detect.

Thanks.
i think it might of been a jammer that he had. i dont think that they can pick up they you have a radar detector because all the detectors do is just recieve the signal and tell you. but if they see it on your windshield they can give you a ticket. where is code3gt because he is a cop. i havnt seen him around hear for a while. he might have something to say

Only a radar jammer sends out a signal. Detectors only take in the constant and pulse radar waves.

"Since they have an oscillating current, all radio receivers not only pick up radio signals, they also emit them. This means that any radar detector, whether it has a jammer or not, broadcasts a tell-tale radio wave whenever it is turned on."

Maybe I havent been clear. Yes, detectors can be detected. They do emit a signal. If it is legal to run a detector in your state and a cop feels they have to talk to you about it, this is a minor form of harassment about something that is legal. If it is illegal in your state then dont run one. they can detect them even if yhou cleverly disguise them or hide them. Radar detectors can be detected.
